Our History: A record of blessings and breakthroughs
Established in 1999, the Fountainhead Association is a Hong Kong-based Christian
charitable organization aimed at spreading and sharing the love of Christ among
the ethnic minorities in China. It partners with evangelical churches and groups
to serve local communities, and through meeting their needs forms strong relational
links with them.
It all started with a seed of faith, hope, and love.
On April 25, 1999, Rev. Daniel Lau and four other directors held the first directors’
meeting of the Fountainhead Association (FHA). It followed months of discussion,
preparation, prayer and deliberation on their common vision of sharing the love of
Christ with the minority peoples of China.
In the same year of 1999, the FHA office opened with a staff of two workers. The team
has now grown to a full-time work force of more than 20, with many short-termers and
volunteers joining at different times for various projects and trips to the Mainland.
FHA’s first efforts of service in 1999 were focused on the Zhuang People and later
included the Dong People before it launched out to “Z” city in a southern province,
where a prototype training/ministry center was set up in 2000, in partnership with a
local church. This center is involved in the work of training, child care, meeting
points and church building. With this footing firmly established, FHA expanded its
ministries to another city in a southwestern province, and then to a northeastern
and a central province.
Ministry-wise, FHA’s projects are creative and aim at helping the poor to improve
their livelihoods. They include micro-loan goat projects to provide extra income
for villagers, the installation of methane wells for lighting and cooking, water
and power supply facilities, repair and rebuilding of roads and bridges, emergency
relief, building of clinics, schools and dormitories, scholarships for children,
English and computer training, etc.
In directly church-related ministries, FHA has forged strong relationships with
local churches and jointly launched an array of ministries such as rebuilding
churches, children and youth fellowships, training Sunday school teachers, visitation,
topical training sessions for lay pastors, worship design, scholarships for Bible
students and ministers’ children, etc.
With God’s help FHA has been covering much ground and picking up momentum in its
services and ministries. By His Grace it will continue to break new ground and
work to glorify His name.
The goal is set. The vision is clear.
